[Erp5-dev] Beautiful Code Book

Hi,

following the discussion on the handbook, I would like to anounce that the
book Beautiful Code is scheduled to be released in June 15th. Our chapter is
named
"ERP5: Designing for Maximum Adaptability."

We first describe ERP5 in general and then Project in more detail, to show
how ERP5 is flexible. Yo already have an electronic copy of the beta version
of the chapter. We had to ommit, change, and simplify things to make it more
understandable to non-ERP5 developers and to fit into 12 pages.

Of course, we mentioned all of you, some by name, some as a collective, and

working with such a nice and competent collective that you guys represent!

This would be wonderful. Actually, the feedback I got from a number of
prospect clients was that it was exactly the ERP5 basic design that
attracted them to it - the fact that ERP5 is not a system which "just
works", but that it has a solid theoretical foundation. And the

people I

meeet want to know more about it. So I think it'd be great for marketing
to publish as much info about it as possible.

Great news. What would be fantastic is to be able to include the article in
erp5.org site. The previous one published at IEEE is now very hard to get.
Many people would like to get it but I can not because it is proprietary.

Do you think it will be posisble to put this new chapter in erp5.org ?

Yes, one must buy it from IEEE (althought I have it in PDF, you can print it
and give it to prospective customers - I have sent it to you, haven?t I?),
it is a pitty, but that?s the price to pay for publishing in such a
proeminent journal.

To avoid this in the future, what do you think of publishing our academical
research in pieces in erp5.org? I explain: we are going to publish about
ERP5 design patterns in the International Journal of Patterns (IJOP) blog as
a series of small weekly articles. The union of all those small articles was
aready submited to IET Software (UK).

Do you think it will be posisble to put this new chapter in erp5.org ?

YES! That was one of the first author?s requests - publish on the Internet.
We will be able to publish the chapter, maybe in a non-art-edited version,
but with all the content, including figures (like the one I sent to Yo).
